As part of the Dorchester Schools Literacy Festival, Year 1 & 2 visited Thomas Hardye School to hear from the author and illustrator Neal Layton. This was an exciting opportunity to hear from Neal Layton about the process of writing and illustrating a children's picture book.
This year, we celebrated Harvest with all things singing! Each class performed a song as we worked through the alphabet and how each letter of the alphabet was linked to Harvest!
We asked for donations to Dorchester Food Bank for our Harvest Festival then, as part of their Active Citizenship focus, our Year 1 pupils took these donations to the Food Bank themselves so they could learn more about how the Food Bank works.
At the end of term, we celebrated achieving our Eco Schools Green Flag once more. Well done to all the Eco Schools Committee and Mrs Schoorens for all your hard work throughout the year.
We celebrated this achievement by inviting parents into school for a special Eco Schools picnic and for everyone to watch as we raised our new Eco School Green Flag.
At Frome Valley First School, we place a lot of emphasis on children learning to play musical instruments, particularly tuned musical instruments.
Frome Valley First School is always so proud to present its annual school play production. This is a whole school play where every child takes part on the stage and every member of staff is involved from directing the play and writing the script, to creating all the props, to making all the costumes and creating all the dances!
This year’s play was based on Beauty & the Beast.
At Frome Valley First School, the children collect Dojo points for demonstrating good behaviour, our school values and being a good citizen etc... They can cash in their dojos for various rewards. For 250 points, they can bring in their pet for the afternoon to show everyone.
Each year, the School Council proudly organise a tea party to say a huge THANK YOU to all the volunteers that have helped in the school during the current academic year.
This includes:
To celebrate the King's Coronation, the school spent a day off timetable.
On Wednesday 26th April, the RNLI came to school for a special assembly on staying safe near the sea. This is particularly important due to us living near the coast.
